Sandra Leinonen Dunn is an artist and a published illustrator. In addition, she brings over 20 years of experience as an art educator to bring to her workshops. She finds as much joy in teaching as she does in painting.
Sandra’s paintings are shown in galleries throughout Maine including The Maine Art Gallery in Kennebunkport, the Blue Hill Bay Gallery in Blue Hill, and the Art Space Gallery in Rockland. Best known for her luscious still life compositions, Sandra’s loose yet representational style, reflect the joy that she feels at the easel. This exuberance comes through in her colors and brushstrokes. She works in both acrylics, and water-based oil paints, both of which she handles with great ease and skill.

Ms. Dunn is the winner of numerous awards for her work including Best of Show at the Maine Open Juried Art Show. She is the illustrator of numerous children’s books including The Henhouse, and Live Bale of Hay (author Carol Dean, publisher- Downeast publishing). She has taught workshops at the Roundtop Center for the Arts (now Riverarts) in Damariscotta Maine, and at the Boothbay Region Art Foundation in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

Sandra Leinonen Dunn’s painting workshops can assist both the novice painter as well as the seasoned professional to find fresh ways to work in acrylics. Acrylics are a ‘greener’ than oil paints in that no chemicals are required for clean up, and the fast drying time will assist any artist to become more prolific! Ms. Dunn gives informative and helpful demonstrations.
Students can watch the unfolding of a painting step by step, and then have an opportunity to try the techniques first hand. She gives individual attention to each student to assist them in their work. Ms. Dunn acknowledges that each person’s style is completely unique and special, and her goal in teaching is to help each student achieve and find joy in his or her own ‘voice’ or style. Whether you are just starting out painting, or have been painting for years, everyone is welcome In this workshop, and the teacher will meet you where you are!
